We are looking for an editor to join the team at Oak – The Nordic Journal. Oak is a biannual bookazine with an international reach that covers Nordic culture, design, food and travel.

The successful candidate will be an experienced editor with a serious interest in the people, ideas and aesthetics of the Nordic region with preference given to applicants with a specialty in several countries. The editor will be on top of new developments, trends and themes that are of interest to Oak readers, with an emphasis on Nordic culture but also with a keen interest in food, design, social issues and travel.

The editor will be part of the editorial team at Oak and will help develop a distinctive vision, building and leading new and existing publishing projects and be able to develop alliances with a network of key players across the industry. The ideal candidate will be committed to high quality journalism, with a desire to develop innovative, yet accessible, storytelling formats aimed at attracting a wide audience.

Editorial management, concept and content development
Work with editorial team in planning new themed issues
Brief, commission and manage freelance writers
Write and edit pieces and material for publishing projects
Develop a network of international freelance writers
Consult on pitches and on commissioning

Native English speaker or a very high level of written English, and at least three years experience being part of an editorial team
Strong sense of storytelling formats
Location Copenhagen
Reporting to the editorial team
This is a freelance position, pay will be dependent on experience and level of involvement.
