The Juliet Pendant lamp is the result of the first collaboration between Norwegian designers Lars Tornøe and Hallgeir Homstvedt, who together endeavoured to modernize the traditional style of a tailored soft shade lamp. Traditionally, these shades are handmade by stretching textiles around wire forms whose silhouettes pop up when the lamp is on, but here is where the designers have cleverly departed from tradition: the dome-shaped shade of the Juliet is cast in porcelain, the cloud-cream colour conjuring a delicate softness, and the ridges and grooves of the form reference the seams and translucence of the wire and cloth shades that inspired them.
