ÖRSJÖ

Over 65 years of manufacturing expertise support the reputation and designer roster of Swedish lighting company Örsjö, based in Småland – a region of southern Sweden with a history of high quality manufacturing. In 1952 – the early days of the company – they began a collaboration with IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad, who solicited them to produce lamps for his company in a relationship that spanned over 30 years and helped to build Örsjö’s public image for creating functional, beautiful lamps and fixtures. There is a clean, modern aesthetic and strength of form that is common to all of the company’s products, characteristics that have won several awards from design fairs and international design journal Wallpaper.

Part of the appeal that keeps Örsjö such a fresh and relevant name after all these decades is their commitment to collaborating with a wide range of talented designers of diverse backgrounds and training: architects, teachers, artists, and furniture designers all contribute their unique visions to developing Örsjö’s compelling and nuanced library of lighting, which have the impressive quality of adding a great deal of character to a space without being imposing. Their catalogue of designs is the result of collaborations with some of Scandinavia’s most accomplished names, including the likes of Norway Says, Matti Klenell, Marge Arikitkter, Claesson Koivisto Rune, and Note Design Studio, among many others. They also work closely with clients to create site-specific lighting concepts for hotels, restaurants, and cinemas, including the Stockholm’s Opera House and Rigoletto Cinema, resulting in some visionary and unparalleled work.
